Norbert Bisky

ARCHIVE

On the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the painter Norbert Bisky is playing in the rooms of the Villa Schöningen - with early and current works as well as installation objects that convey an atmospheric impression of everyday life in the GDR.

The prison-gray rooms on the ground floor mostly show works on paper that deal thematically with enduring a claustrophobic existence and the ever-present desire to break out. Parts of the villa's permanent exhibition have been incorporated into the current exhibition

Schöningen integrated, including the living room installation by video artist Stefan Roloff, which Bisky added a zombie sandman. An indication that horror is often hidden in the familiar.
